Tonight as I was driving home, I realized that my life really feels like it sucks right now. And for any of you who go to church, or have heard sermons on “Getting Through That Rough Patch” you have probably heard things like:
- “All you have to do is pray”
- “You’re just making it seem worse than it is”
- “God has great things for you all you have to do is have faith”
- “Trust him he’s got you”
- “Stop trying to make things all about you”
- “Don’t try to control your life”
To be honest, I just want to lay in my bed, binge watch Netflix, and eat lots of junk food, but the thing is, life doesn’t just stop because you want it to. My aunt once told me that I get to choose what affects my happiness and how much I let the situation control me. She told me that “today you get to cry, worry, scream, rant, whatever you want, but tomorrow you have to move on; If you want to let part of that situation stay in your life, then crack the window in your life so that you can hear when it comes back, but you can’t wait for things to change and put your life on pause just because things aren’t what you want them to be right now.
Yeah right now life may straight up suck, but I realized that things don’t always change over night, and it might seem like God isn’t there helping make things better, but in reality, he’s standing right next to you walking these trials with you every step of the way. Just trust that if you fall he will help you back up, and when his time is right, he can change your situation around in the blink of an eye!
Remember: “He who started a good work in you will carry it to completion.” (Philippians 1:6)
